Content marketing isn’t just about creating text blog posts; it’s about a whole host of different types of content and most certainly more than what is listed below. These however are the types of content that most audiences like the best and therefore help drive better engagement for your content marketing efforts.

These are images that invoke certain emotions combined with quotes from someone famous, or even from yourself if you have written something profound, factual or thoughtful. You can use a site like Canva.com to make your own memes and you often find these shared on social media especially Facebook.

Typically if you have data centric content and would like a great way to impart the information to your audience whilst generating maximum interest, use an infographic. An infographic is a long graphic with many images and data explained in an easily understandable and entertaining way.

Short blog posts typically have 400 words or less and they are used to explain information that is very focused on one single topic, which means you answer a single question only. This type of post can provide an informational overview on a topic, but doesn’t go that in-depth.

Everyone involved with content marketing should include long in-depth, authoritative pieces of content. These can be anywhere from 750 to 3000 or more words. These might consist of guides, reviews, and “how to” posts, these posts allow you to really thrash out a subject matter and build your authority in the eyes of your audience.

An eBook is usually somewhere around 10,000 words long, but don’t let that frighten you. Think of it as just 25 short blog posts. If you write 25 short blog posts about the same topic, explaining how to do something, you can bundle them together to make an eBook.

Typically 2500 words and up to 7500 words, an eReport usually covers some basic educational information about a topic as well as offering solutions for problems that the audience may have.

When you promote your blog posts, eBooks, eReports and other content, you’ll need some sort of social media blurb. Make them different for each networks personality to make it unique and original.

Creating regular videos for your website or blog and putting them on YouTube is a great way to grow your audience and get more views and create more content. Videos are shared more often than text content and have potential to go viral and for best results videos should typically be between 3-5 minutes in length.

Asking your customers and clients to provide testimonials is a great way to get content on your website that you did not create. The testimonials will mean more if you provide links back to the person’s website who gave them, plus it helps if it comes straight from them without being edited. Being the cynic I am now, I should point out that testimonials don’t have the same weight or authority that they once did online, simply because people offer to give testimonials for just a few dollars.

When you recommend products, consider doing a full product review? It’s a great way to get more content, as well as to promote a product you like. Be fair and honest about the products and be forthcoming about how you obtained the product and that if they buy it you’ll get a commission.
